Plan your practice

Find a class which suits you

We need to find a way to move which works for us. That may differ day to day or week to week. Some days we feel like a slower paced way to exercise to recharge and revive, other days we want to raise the heart rate and feel like our muscles have worked the next day!

I offer a variety of classes, from contemporary Matwork pilates classes Beginners to Advanced, Ante & Post Natal Pilates, and a H.I.P. (High Intensity Power Pilates) cardio class. I have trained in Theraputic and Yin Yoga so fuse these approaches into my pilates classes, as well as using small equipment such as resistance band, small pilates ball and magic circle.

If a class setting isn’t for you, I on occasion do have the time to offer bespoke Pilates sessions on a 1:1 level or if you have some friends who would like to join you on a 1:2/1:3 basis.

Matwork

From beginners to experienced practitioners. Pilates matwork classes focus on a series of movements incorporating breathwork, balance, strength & mobility. The APPI method works on a 5 stage model so I can optimise the class and make it really relevant to your needs.

It is possible that if you haven’t any experience of Pilates that we may need to undertake a 1:1 session prior to you joining a block of classes or if there are no Beginner level classes currently being offered on my schedule.

Pregnancy Pilates

The benefits of moving in pregnancy are many. Government guidelines advise 150 minutes of specific exercise a week. Not used to exercising? Maybe it is time to start. Pregnancy pilates can decrease the chance of developing significant diastasis, decrease chance of having incontinence, and give you the potential for a more straight forward delivery. The content aims to strengthen you for your upcoming journey into motherhood. You do not need to have any previous Pilates experience for these classes.

Mum & Baby Pilates

The newest class offering in the schedule. And super fun! Come and connect with other mums, in a supported environment. Move those achey backs & re-connect with your abdominals and pelvic floor. These classes run as a course to ensure you get the most out of them. As part of the course you will also have access to short recordings covering some of the weekly class content. Ensuring value for money for the parts you miss in the live session when feeding or attending to your little person!

You do not need to have any Pilates experience for these classes.

Receive movement guidance

With an experienced teacher you can trust

Hi I am Kerry. I am a chartered physiotherapist of over 20 years and I am fully certified with the APPI health group as a pilates instructor. The APPI group directors are both physiotherapists, and recognised the beneficial effects of Pilates, but also that some of the classical exercises developed by Joseph Pilates are, for some of the population, not within reach. So the exercises in the APPI repertoire are designed to be achieveable for as many of us as possible. WIth my expertise as a physiotherapist I can confidently modify, and plan classes according to specific needs of those within the class. I work within my professional guidelines, delivering classes which adhere to current best practice & research.

Your practice can empower you to feel confident about movement again, to assist in your rehabilitation after an operation or recovery from injury, to encourage you to exercise and discover the deep connection between your breath, mind & body.

With women in mind…

In different phases of life we need to give ourselves more…

Pregnant and struggling to find a class that works for you? Bothered by niggles creeping in? Used to exercising regularly and not sure how or what to do? I have completed the APPI Ante-Natal Pilates training and have started to deliver stand-alone classes for mums to be where you can be the focus of the class. Modifying exercises for your trimester, featuring all the elements recommended for pregnant women exercising such as pelvic floor, breathwork, some resistance/cardio classes & not forgetting relaxation. These classes are lovely to teach and I hope lovely to take part in. Current recomendations are for pregnant women to take part in 150 minutes of exercise per week, fitter mums mean fitter babies, exercising through pregnancy can help minimise risk of blood pressure problems, and the onset of pregnancy diabetes.

Post birth & keen to return to your pre-pregnancy level of fitness but everything’s not feeling quite right? Perhaps a post-natal class is for you. Again focusing on pelvic floor, breath and gradually working through levels of exercise to really help you re-connect with those muscles which have been lengthened during the pregnancy phase. Enabling you to maximise your fitness to cope with the demands of being a parent!

As we get a little older as women, entering a time where we may be starting menopause, we also need a little something extra. Specifically exercise directed at bone strength and muscle strength to keep us fit & strong into our later years. Due to hormonal changes we lose some of our muscle strength during the transition, amongst other effects that regular exercise can help with. My classes include cues for pelvic floor strength, weight bearing/balance exercises to help with bone density, and also resistance/weights work to help with strength without heavy impact through joints. Matwork Pilates addresses these features that we need from exercise.
